چکیده

An experimental method was developed to measure both steam-water and air-water capillary pressures using an X-ray CT technique. We conducted spontaneous water imbibition and gravity drainage in ceramic core samples for steam-water and air-water systems respectively. The results were compared, and it was found that the steam-water capillary pressures were significantly less than the airwater capillary pressures in both imbibition and drainage cases.

Differences between Steam-water and Air-water Capillary Pressures

Steam-water flow exists in most geothermal reservoirs where steam-water capillary pressure plays an important role in controlling fluid distribution, transfer of liquid between fracture and matrix, well productivity, and even the reserves. However, it is very difficult to measure steam-water capillary pressure due to the phase transformation and the significant mass transfer between the two pha...

Steam-Water Capillary Pressure

Steam-water capillary pressure is of central importance in geothermal reservoir engineering, however it is still poorly known due to the difficulty making direct measurements. To this end, we have conducted experimental and theoretical studies over the past five years and have made significant progress in understanding fundamental steamwater flow. In this paper, we summarize and discuss the res...

A Capillary Pressure Model for Geothermal Reservoirs

Abstract Steam-water capillary pressure is often either ignored or determined artificially in geothermal reservoir engineering. However steam-water capillary pressure plays an important role in geothermal reservoir performance and may not be substituted by air-water capillary pressure. To this end, preliminary mathematical models have been developed to calculate drainage and imbibition steam-wa...

Calculation of Steam-water Relative Permeability Using Capillary Pressure Data

Various capillary pressure approaches such as the Purcell, Burdine, Corey, and Brooks-Corey methods were used to calculate steam-water relative permeabilities using the measured data of steamwater capillary pressure in both drainage and imbibition processes. The calculated results were compared to the experimental data of steam-water relative permeability measured in Berea sandstone. The steam-...

The optimum pressure for working fluid in feed water heaters of steam power plants

The aim of this study is to find the optimal water pressure and percentage of supply vapour in the feed water heaters (fwhs) of steam power plants, such that they maximize the thermal efficiency of the Rankine cycle within pre-specified values of minimum and maximum pressures of the thermodynamic cycle. Thermal efficiency is defined as a function of unknown variables (fluid pressure and vap...
